The Petit Champlain district: shopping, restaurants and fantasy AT YOUR FEET!
For the second consecutive year, the Petit Champlain district is taking an original approach to draw attention to itself. This year, shoes have replaced bicycles on the fronts of buildings along Champlain Boulevard. Over 600 orange, green and blue shoes of all sizes are displayed horizontally as if they were «walking» on the walls, all pointing in the same direction. Used in many European cities, this type of urban art surprises, enchants and literally seduces visitors. Last year, the bicycles were photographed extensively and ended up in a full page spread of the 2009 edition of the Ulysse Travel Guide, entitled “whimsical façades”. This creative idea, thought up for the business owners of the Petit Champlain district, is a great way to entice visitors to explore the area. While strolling amidst the shops and restaurants of this lively neighbourhood, not only will you have a marvellous time, you will make hundreds of wonderful and tasty discoveries. So, don’t hesitate, do set foot in the Petit Champlain district!
