A co-op within the co-op! On June 24th 2008 handcrafters and artists in Quebec City and its surroundings formed a cooperative and opened up a boutique named Vert Tuyau in the Petit Champlain quartier of Old Quebec. The boutique is also managed and run by the members of the co-op who share their enthusiasm for their work to the general public. The cooperative’s mission is to help market innovative artists and to create a unique meeting place in Quebec city for the public and for artists alike. Hence, the boutique is also a meeting ground of ideas and knowledge between the buyer, seller and producer of the merchandise.
Such an innovative commercial retail space only sells works that are selected by the co-op that are recognized as of being of the highest craftsmanship and quality from all disciplines. For example: ceramics, glasswork, woodwork, textile, bookbinding, sculpture, woodturning, stained glass, fantasy dolls, jewelry…
